SCOPE
Preparing for scheduled S&OP meetings took too much time and cost too much. Staff were spread across locations, with no standard data collection format or quality checks, so data had to be reconciled in multiple stages
SOLUTION
- Implemented IBP for forecasting and planning calculations
- Deployed supporting systems serving as SCMS to provide an interface and a data source
- Integrated three systems covering logistics, constraints and rates, production, sales, and quota allocation
- Provided a web interface for standardized data preparation, integrated with IBP
OUTCOMES
- The S&OP cycle, from data collection and validation through forecasting and allocation planning, was reduced to two days
- Planning accuracy improved by 4% through better data quality alone, delivering a substantial financial impact at the company’s scale
